Gallery artist Krijn de Koning has been appointed as 'Churchwarden' of the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. He designed a temporary art work for the church, which will be on view from August 26 to the end of October 2010. Inspired by the building and its history he set up a gigantic installation that takes up a good part of the building itself. Its most important part is an accessible construction of 800 square metres, set up at the height of 4,5 metres. The audience gets actively involved with the reality that surrounds the artwork; you can walk around at the same height as the stained glass windows, so that the architecture ad ornaments of the church are put into a completely new perspective. The perecpetion of space and the relation between humans and space are central to De Koning's work.
